The thin black streak on the nail of my left forefinger glistens under the CFL lamp. Looking at it makes me happy, the same happiness that each one of the 43million first time voter in India felt. Its an adrenalien rush, to prove to yourself that you have done yourself and your country a sacred duty
16 May, saturday 2009... like most saturdays this should have been whiled away watching boring movies on tv, but today is not another usual saturday. the result of Inida's parlimentary elections are out and whoa, whats happening???!!!
Exit polls had days earlier given the UPA a 220 seat prediction, which simply put: meant that this elacetions were again going to throw up useless "nikamma" kingmakers. and probably mrs M from UP or some sillly politician as Inida's prime minister. but this was not to be, the congress led-upa scripted a great comeback story. 260 odd seats in all.... i should say this is equivalent of an absolute majority.
Old man "loh purush" was no where on the tv screens, nor did any of the 'proud' yet stupid saffron brigade comrades come on tv proclaiming that 'mandir tho ab ban hi gaya samjho'..... oh, dear! what happened to the new India's love--> the BJP?? battered is not the word.
they managed fewer seats than the last general elections. where is our new hero mr. VG from philbilt? penning down another "eloquent" speech? and what abt the gujju mr NM ??
well they have all gone under cover? why--? because the silent indian voter has spoken....
not thru loud speeches or hate speeches, not thru breeding communal hatred,
but by the power of the "vote" . by a simple push of the button--> he detonated an explosive so powerful that all the silly noise makers have become speechless.
We have spoken out- and the message is lod and clear. We need
a stable govt
we love the US (with or without the nuclear deal, with or without mr obama)
the Left (and the Karat'e' kid) can run around in circles trying to figure out what is Right.:: the left is never right.
all those who wanted to play kingmakers can spend the next 5yrs warming opposition benches.
and ahem- BJP: guys we are still going to have a Sikh PM, a christian UPA chairperson, a hindu president etc etc etc... if you think India is abt the hindutva and that only 80% of India's population matters to you:: think better, even the 80% doesnt need you. We need somebody and some party that thinks in whole and not in "parts"
Its goodbye to divisive and silly politics, and its time to enjoy 5yrs of stability.
(hopefully the pehelwan from Up wont be part of the cabinet)
